Lessons 5 & 6: Monkey Wrench and Jacob's Ladder

Having conquered squares and a bit of triangles, the next few lessons are to practice these new skills. So we have more triangles and squares. Most of the time is still devoted to the measuring and cutting of the fabric.
I continue to hate the plastic for the templates. It needs to be thicker. I’m going to watch for that. Read online I can find something at Home Depot. Meanwhile, using up what I have.
Last Wednesday I had time to cut out the Monkey Wrench. I pieced it together and sewed on Saturday while watching some Pride & Prejudice. These things have nothing to do with the other, but I like Pride & Prejudice; so it makes the sewing & ripping out of seams & resewing more enjoyable.

On Saturday night I had some free time. I decided to get a head start on cutting for the next block. I knew my time would be limited this week, so it would be nice to have some fabric ready to sew.
More triangles. Pencil is a better marker on some fabric. The ink marking pen is good on the dark fabrics, but I’ve decided pencil is superior where I can see it. Tracing was faster and more accurate.
With more triangles and a few squares, I sewed up Jacob’s Ladder on Sunday (I finished Pride & Prejudice, too).

There won’t be any sewing this week. This week is camping where the prime activity will be the reading of magazines and maybe a touch of crochet. But mostly the magazines.
